Each Arc Raiders map has a few intriguing puzzles to figure out, and they’ll usually provide you with some nice loot for solving them. For instance, if you’ve come across the Ancient Fort POI on the Blue Gate map, you may have noticed a cellar door and some electrical boxes scattered around. This puzzle is easy to complete in theory, but the random battery locations add a sense of randomness to the equation. Luckily, we’re here to fill you in on where to look for them.
Once you solve the puzzle and get the cellar door open, you’ll gain access to a room filled with loot. Not every run will net you excellent stuff down here, but it’s always worth checking out if you’re in the area. So, with that said, here’s how to complete the Ancient Fort puzzle and open the cellar door.
How to open the cellar door at the Ancient Fort
If you visit the Ancient Fort and poke around a bit, you’ll notice a cellar door on an outside wall. It’s likely to be closed when you arrive, but note the three lights above it, as they’re a key to how you can pop this sucker open. You guessed it–you need to power up some electrical boxes.
There are three electrical boxes located around the fort. Each of these is in plain sight, as solving this puzzle is much more about how to power them up.
- The first electrical box is located on the southern outside wall.
- The second electrical box is located upstairs inside the tower of the fort.
- The third electrical box is located upstairs against a wall on the second floor.

Each electrical box requires a battery to power up. When you power up all three of them, you’ll unlock the cellar door. However, finding the batteries can be a matter of trial and error. There are a variety of spots in and around the Ancient Fort where batteries can spawn, so the locations of the three batteries will change from match to match.
The map below shows the locations where we–and the Arc Raiders community–have discovered the batteries most frequently.
The most common spots to find batteries are within or around the smaller structures on the perimeter of the fort, but we’ve also regularly found one resting at the very top of the fort, as shown in the photo below. So, if you’re struggling to find the last one, head all the way up to the top to look for this one.
When you’ve found and returned three batteries to the electrical boxes, you’ll hear a distinct sound letting you know the cellar door has opened below. Head back there and climb down the ladder to find a room full of loot just for you–or any other raiders who are eager to reap the benefits of your hard work. Stay vigilant!
