Nintendo Switch 2 Console Preorders Are Available Now, But You Should Hurry

The Nintendo Switch 2 is available to preorder now at a trio of major retailers as of 9 PM PT / 12 AM ET. You can preorder the Switch 2 console for $450 or get the Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle for $500, which will save you $30 overall. Switch 2 console preorders are expected to sell out fast, so you’ll likely need to be quick if you want to play the Nintendo Switch 2 when it launches June 5.

The Switch 2 preorder window in the US was delayed by two weeks while Nintendo reviewed the tariff situation, but the two console options are priced the same as originally announced.

Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive games such as Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, Tears of the Kingdom, and Breath of the Wild are also available to preorder as of April 24. A collection of official Switch 2 accessories, including the Switch 2 Pro Controller, official carrying case, Samsung microSD Express Cards, and extra Joy-Con 2 Controllers, are up for grabs and release the same day as the console.

You’ll notice disclaimers on multiple retailer store pages noting that Switch 2 preorders are expected to sell out fast. The Mario Kart World Bundle will likely sell out first, and Nintendo has confirmed that this value offer won’t be manufactured beyond Fall 2025. To give yourself the best chance of securing a Switch 2 preorder, you need to be prepared ahead of the start time by logging into your accounts, updating your mobile apps, and confirming your payment and shipping information is up to date.

Here are the official start times for Nintendo Switch 2 preorders at the four major retailers confirmed to be taking preorders tonight and into tomorrow. After checking out the two console options, make sure to browse our retailer sections for a look at all of the games and accessories you can buy alongside the Switch 2 itself.

    $500 (valued at $530) | Limited Availability

Mario Kart World is the Nintendo Switch 2’s marquee launch exclusive. If you want to play the next evolution in Nintendo’s wildly popular racing series, you will need to upgrade to the Switch 2. And considering Mario Kart World on its own is priced at $80 in digital and physical formats, the $500 bundle will save you $30 compared to buying the console game individually.

The Mario Kart World Switch 2 Console Bundle will only be available in limited quantities through Fall 2025–though it could sell out sooner. We expect this bundle to be the more popular pick of the Switch 2 console options when preorders open tonight at Walmart, Target, and Best Buy. Preorders for the bundle will start tomorrow morning at GameStop.

    $450 | Releases June 5

If you aren’t able to preorder the bundle with Mario Kart World, or simply don’t care for Mario Kart, the standalone console should be at least slightly easier to buy when Switch 2 console preorders go live tonight at 9 PM PT / 12 AM ET at Walmart, Target, and Best Buy.

GameStop will be taking Switch 2 preorders tomorrow morning, and the Nintendo Store is letting fans register for the chance to buy the console directly from Nintendo on May 8.

Here’s a quick look at the Nintendo Switch 2’s technical specifications and notable features:

    • Supports up to 60fps in 4K resolution (docked)

    Nintendo Switch 2 Retailers

We’ve created sections below for each major retailer carrying the Nintendo Switch 2 console as well as first-party accessories and games. These lists include all of the Switch 2 products that are expected to be available to preorder starting April 24.

    Nintendo Switch 2 Walmart
    Nintendo Switch 2 Walmart

Walmart Delivery Guarantee: If you preorder the Switch 2 online from Walmart, the retailer says it will be delivered by 9 AM local time on launch day. If you order online for pickup in store, check with your local retailer for store hours ahead of June 5.

Walmart is taking preorders on all of the first-party Nintendo Switch 2 accessories as well as a bunch of exclusive games and third-party titles releasing at launch and throughout the summer. As an added bonus, Walmart is listing some games and accessories for $1 below retail price, which accumulates if you buy numerous Switch 2 products.

Nintendo Switch 2 Controllers & Accessories at Walmart

The Nintendo Switch 2 will launch alongside an assortment of official accessories. Most of the Switch 2 accessories received $5 price increases due to the ongoing tariff situation. The most notable accessory arriving on June 5 is the Switch 2 Pro Controller. It retains the general form factor and look of the original Pro Controller while adding a pair of remappable back buttons and the new C button that’s found on the Joy-Con 2 Controllers. The C button can be used to pull up the GameChat feature, which is complemented by the official Switch 2 Camera for video chat. If you want to future-proof your console’s storage capacity, you can preorder the officially licensed Samsung 256GB microSD Express Card to double your storage space out of the gate.

All of Nintendo’s official Switch 2 accessories listed above will release alongside the console on June 5.

Nintendo Switch 2 Game Preorders at Walmart

We’ve noted the release dates for the Nintendo Switch 2 games below after the price. This list only includes Switch 2 games that are expected to be available to preorder on April 24. The exclusive games, including Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, and the four enhanced Switch games with new content unlock for purchase at the same time as the console. The second half of the list is filled with multiplatform titles that are receiving physical releases for Switch 2 and are up for preorder already.

GameStop is also releasing its own collection of Switch 2 accessories. In a few cases, such as with GameStop’s carrying cases, you can save a lot by opting for this unofficial option. For other accessories, such as GameStop’s microSD Express Cards, you will actually spend more money than you would on a card from a major storage manufacturer.

Unfortunately, Amazon has yet to create a store page for the Nintendo Switch 2 or any first-party games and accessories. You can still find third-party Nintendo Switch 2 games and accessories at Amazon, but the US retailer is not expected to take preorders or even stock the console at launch. This isn’t entirely unexpected, though. Amazon hasn’t carried the vast majority of first-party Switch games, both new releases and past hits, since early last year.

Nintendo Switch 2 Accessories at Amazon

Since the Switch 2 is compatible with many existing Switch accessories, you can still find some peripherals that will likely be among the best options for Switch 2. For instance, 8BitDo just launched the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth Controller, which will work on the new console and has a bunch of customization features not found on Nintendo’s official Switch 2 Pro Controller. For handheld mode, we’d expect GameSir’s G8 Plus Bluetooth Mobile Controller to work with the Switch 2 at launch. This controller is similar to a Backbone One, except it’s designed for tablets up to 8.5 inches wide.

Amazon will continue to be a good place to find deals on the pricey microSD Express Cards. The speedy Express cards are the only type of microSD cards supported by the Switch 2.
